Expanding the Cosmos

August 17 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

For lovers of the night sky, we have a very special event coming to the farm on Monday, 17 August. For the first time, we’re collaborating with Beaker Street for a memorable evening of astronomy, culture, food and music. With minimal light pollution and the beautiful surrounds of the Dial Range, Mount Gnomon Farm is the perfect place to gaze skyward and contemplate our place in the cosmos. Gather in our cosy, firelit barn for a fascinating talk from Wuradjuri astrophysicist Dr Kirsten Banks on Indigenous astronomy, followed by Dr Martin George, Chief Astronomer at Hive Planetarium, who will explore NASA’s recent Artemis II mission and humanity’s return to the Moon. Enjoy a delicious Mount Gnomon grazing feast, live music, and drinks available from the bar. If the skies are clear, step outside for guided stargazing with telescopes provided by the Astronomical Society of Tasmania. Please dress warmly and wear sturdy footwear. Tickets are limited, so book now to secure your place for this unforgettable evening under the stars.
